Police say an 18-year-old registered sex offender attacked his teacher at school.

After hearing this, thousands of questions started racing through my mind...

I guess I never realized registered sex offenders could attend public schools. But where else would they go?

The kid was living at a halfway house less than a mile away from the school. Did students know their classmate is a convicted sex offender? Should the school have done more to inform parents?

These are the types of questions we're exploring here at the FOX 7 News Edge, but I'm wondering what you guys think. Please post your thoughts on the issue.

I think you hit the nail on the head NewsProducer...I also never realized registered sex offenders could attend public schools. And I also agree the school could have done something, anything to inform parents. What about our state government...is their any responsibility there? How do things like this happen, and we as concerned citizens are continually left wondering how and why? Are we the only ones asking the questions?

Seriously, they should either make schools just for sex offenders, or inform the schools and teachers about the sex offender and make sure he is watched. What happened could have been avoided if they just would handle sex offenders better than they do now. And on the sex offender topic, what about Holloween? That should also be taken care of better than it is now, because it will end with a nightmare for many people.

My name is Julie and I'm a producer here at FOX 7. I have wanted to be a news producer ever since the 5th grade. That year I bet my folks $100 I could go a whole year without watching TV as long as I was still allowed to see the news. (In case you're wondering...I won.)
